Things I Love, chapter 1

Welcome to a new series of posts documenting the many things here in Azerbaijan (and especially in Oğuz) that really tickle me.

For today, I’d like to introduce you to a few members of my incredible 9th form conversation club.

I love club. A lot. While teaching has major ups and downs, and is often frustrating, unproductive, and unfulfilling, the three conversation clubs that I run with my sitemate Drew are invariably fantastic.

Although they often have ridiculous numbers (we had 50 kids once before we divided them up and limited attendance), the kids are motivated, talented, and great examples of the hopeful future of Azerbaijan.

On this day only about 1/3 of the normal number showed up, so we were able to have a nice small-group style conversation, which was really nice.  Here, they are writing interesting/unique facts about themselves for a guessing game/grammar lesson. After, we played a really intense game of Simon Says.
