After staging in Philadelphia and a long journey involving several flights, bus rides, and hotel rooms, my lovely fellow AZ8′s and I have arrived in Sumgayıt, Azerbaijan!
I’ll spare the gruesome airport details (including my getting frisked in Frankfurt . . .), but I (and my luggage!!) arrived safely. I am glad to be at my temporary home in a fancy schmancy hotel where we’ll be doing more orientation-type things, and getting ready to move in with our PST host families on Tuesday!!
So far, my most overarching perception of my Peace Corps experience is the great sense of community among the volunteers. Staging was essentially a “get to know and love these people you’ll be living and working with for the next two years,” and it’s nice to be in the company of like-minded, inspired, and fun people.
More to come later : )
Lovely, Lilli!!!
Will you be receiving emails in the gmail account I have for you?
Would paper letters be a pain?
Love you; good luck!
Gmail is great!
Paper letters will be even greater once I get around to finding my address…
I want the airport details!
Love You, Miss You, So Proud of You!
